Description
Summary:In this, the third of six sessions, the client is distressed by the recent behavior of her 16-year-old son who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. A new friend of his has ingested some of the son's medication and reportedly has been taken illustrations The therapist and client discuss her feelings about this particular judgment lapse on her son's part and the more general challenges he presents. The client describes her family's lack of support with respect to her children and her fears about both his and her future, given his special needs. The therapist validates the client's feelings but also points out that certain behaviors are normal for teenagers and dissipate with time. He encourages the client to proactively find ways to further her own goals whilst remaining true to her own values of helping others.
