Summary:In this, the second of six sessions, the therapist and client discuss the fact that the client was single when her daughter was born. The client describes her relationship with the child's father and the impact that the pregnancy had on the client's parents. The client also discusses her alcoholism that began while she was a teenager and continued until she met her late husband, who himself was a recovered alcoholic and introduced her to Alcoholics Anonymous. She discusses her ongoing sobriety and its connection with her religious beliefs. The therapist elicits discussion of her children's possible experiences with alcohol and how the client might react to their alcohol use. The session ends with the client and therapist revisiting the topic of her future career goals and his encouraging her to observe the work in situ of people in careers she is considering.
