| Summary: | Ann Vernon works with a single mother of four who is experiencing guilt about her parenting and anxiety about her ability to support her family. She is in the process of divorcing an abusive husband who refuses to see all but one of the children. She has arranged counseling for her children and takes an active role in their schooling, despite working two jobs and making preparations to return to school. In Session 5, the client reveals that she is experiencing depression and high anxiety after attending a court date at which her husband's lawyer noted that her husband intends to sell their house. In the past, the client has taken medication for depression, but she would prefer to avoid it now and is struggling to handle her daily parenting and work responsibilities. Vernon helps her confront the thoughts that underlie her fears and asks her to create a depression chart in the next week, tracking her feelings and the thoughts and events that precede them.
