Description
Summary:Ann Vernon works with a single mother of four who is experiencing guilt about her parenting and anxiety about her ability to support her family. She is in the process of divorcing an abusive husband who refuses to see all but one of the children. She has arranged counseling for her children and takes an active role in their schooling, despite working two jobs and making preparations to return to school. In Session 6, the client reports that keeping a depression chart was helpful and notes that the preponderance of negative feelings occurred after interactions with her mother. Vernon works with the client to continue to question the thoughts that underlie her assumptions and to develop positive self-talk that will help her adapt. She also discusses the anxiety-reducing power of setting goals and confronting problems, and reviews the practical steps that the client might take to master her financial anxiety.
