| Summary: | Ann Vernon works with a single mother of four who is experiencing guilt about her parenting and anxiety about her ability to support her family. She is in the process of divorcing an abusive husband who refuses to see all but one of the children. She has arranged counseling for her children and takes an active role in their schooling, despite working two jobs and making preparations to return to school. In Session 1, Vernon works with the client to identify the source of the guilt she feels at being a "bad mom." Vernon also helps the client confront negative thought patterns and reviews the evidence that shows the client is a actually very good mother. Vernon also helps the client develop a discipline plan for dealing with a son with ADHD who has been acting out.
