Description
Summary:Counseling psychologist Dr. Mark L. Savickas works with a young adult male Caucasian client who is in the process of planning his future career following departure from a college that was not a good fit and a disappointing experience academically. The client expresses an interest in graphic design but is unsure what shape his future career might take and seeks clarification in his career goals. Dr. Savickas engages the client in a narrative process that encompasses exploration of childhood role models, interests, favorite stories, and early memories. The therapist draws out themes of the client's interest in the performing and visual arts. In this session, the therapist remains relatively close to the structure of the interview questions as he seeks to build a rapport and trust with the client. Dr. Savickas informs the client of the three-session nature of the brief therapy and develops the groundwork for a constructive process of goal clarification and the client's enhanced sense of confidence and direction in his career path.
