| Summary: | Dr. Robert A. Neimeyer continues therapy with a woman in her 40's whose father has recently died. She is having problems with depression, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed by her grief. Dr. Neimeyer checks with her to see if her situation has changed over the past week, and it has remained about the same. She has been having problems with her relatives, as they have been discussing disposition of jointly held property, and this has increased existing tension in the family. The client's husband has been helpful in supporting her in dealing with the family squabbles, and has stepped into a role of helping to mediate in the family. Dr. Neimeyer discusses the writing exercise from last week and they look at what it means for her to feel like she "is in a fish bowl", and how to deal with her sense of isolation, while dealing with her need for self-protection. She also expresses anxiety that her temper will flare, and they discuss ways to diffuse her anger constructively.
