Description
Summary:Lorne Ladner works with a newly married woman and stepmother who is experiencing stress in the form of insomnia, racing thoughts, digestive problems, and increased asthma. She has recently quit her job as counselor in an addictions clinic to reduce the stress but is still in conflict with her stepson's mother. Ladner guides the client through two exercises. The first is a meditation exercise to help the client experience the present moment and observe thoughts without judgement. The second is a guided imagery exercise to help the client tap into the happiness she feels when she is with her stepson and learn to extend that care to herself. At the end of the session, Ladner encourages the client to experiment with these techniques to control stress and downplay a habitual tendency toward self-criticism.
