Description
Summary:Dr. Jon Carlson works with a man and woman who have been married for over 10 years and want to separate. They have been to other counselors who have given them mixed messages. The husband's main concern in his life is work, and the wife feels unloved and responsible for too much in the relationship. Dr. Carlson discusses with them what works in their marriage, and encourages them to focus on the positive things about the relationship that work. He gives them tools to use when faced with negative situations, such as only discussing negative aspects of their relationship at certain times for a specified period of time, and not any other time. He also assures them that every couple has issues that won't be resolved. He also suggests that they take time as a couple to help repair the relationship, having a date night, and that they make a list of things about their partner that they love and appreciate, and exchange the lists.
