Description
Summary:Dr. James A. Mulick works with a mother who is concerned about getting a proper diagnosis for her son who is in ninth grade. He has been diagnosed currently as having pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. She describes his behavior as being uncooperative, defiant, unmotivated, and obsessed with computer games. He is now taking prescription medicine: Seroquel, Lamictal, and Celexa, which have helped with his temper tantrums. After listening to her descriptions of his behavior, particularly the boy's problems with writing, Mulick tells her that he believes her son has Asperger's syndrome. She is relieved to finally have a diagnosis, and they discuss next steps in his treatment.
