| Summary: | Scott D. Miller meets with a college-aged female client who has lost energy and gained weight as a result of sleep apnea. He begins the session by explaining that his approach requires that they measure the outcome of their time together by using two scales, one for measuring initial issues and the other for providing feedback on the session. The client fills out the first form, and they review it together to determine the goal for the session: figuring out what to do about the sleep disorder has resulted in lethargy and weight gain. He further questions the client to determine the circumstances that bolstered her sense of control over her health. By mirroring her responses, Miller helps her to develop a plan for incremental behavior change. At the end of the session, she completes the second form providing feedback for Miller to refine his approach.
