Description
Summary:Robert A. Neimeyer works with a woman in her sixties who has recently lost her husband to cancer. The client describes the history of her relationship with her husband, to whom she was married for over thirty years. She wants to make concrete plans for her own future, but is also concerned that she may act reactively or without sufficient forethought. Neimeyer explores with the client her relationship with her husband and encourages her to consider meaningful ways in which she can both keep his memory alive and at the same time move forward in her life without him. He also has the client briefly focus inward in a meditative exercise to explore the nature of her loneliness and how it may help her discover what elements are missing in her life. Neimeyer helps the client to see her own strengths and how these can support her as she plans her future.
