| Summary: | Heidegger's lecture in the winter semester of 1941/42 was originally intended to attempt to think of the word written by Hölderlin by pointing to five poems and fragments. The explanation of "Souvenirs", seen in advance as fundamental to this plan, then took up the entire lecture. After distinguishing himself from contemporary research and separating language as a means of transport from the richness of the poetic word, the first step is to explain Hölderlin's membership in the poet's profession. Then it is explained what holidays and festivals mean in his poetry: the transition from work to the reflection on the essential, the festival as a balancing period for fate, as the reason and essence of history, which only exists in the relationship between Greece and Germania thinking is.The lecture preceded the explanation of the same poem published in 1943. He discusses "thinking in memory" as the essence of a way of thinking "that must remain unknown to all previous thought theory." [Publisher's synopsis]. |
