Description
Summary:A two-part discussion of laws relating to illegitimate, or "natural," children. The first part discusses the recognized legal inferiority between natural and legitimate children, with the basic slant that illegitimate children should not have to suffer for the indiscretions of their parents. The second part [i.e., fourth dissertation] covers adjustments to the law in cases where the father has recognized the child. The latter portions of the document discuss the related issues of poverty relief and education. Good evidence of social reform south of the border. (From vendor description.)
Item Description:Manuscript.
The author's name is rendered as "Nebollo, Angel Ngio." on vendor description. The letter resembles a capital "N". However, on the last line of the verso of the 3rd leaf of the first gathering, a sentence begining with the word "Nada" appears with a different looking capital "N". Also, "Rebollo" is a more common Spanish surname.
No place of production identified, but possibly Santa Cruz [Tepexpan, Mexico], March 13, 1846. (From vendor description)
On verso of last leaf of second gathering: "Cuarta y última disertacion".
