Summary:Illustration and article on the Colosseum, in Regent's Park. The Colosseum was a venture of English artist and surveyor, Thomas Hornor. It was built to exhibit a vast panorama of London, simulating the view from the top of the dome of St Paul's Cathedral. The article describes the construction and design of the Colosseum, and the way in which the panorama was painted from the drawings made by Hornor from the observatory at the top of St. Paul's. The panorama was completed in November 1829.
