Summary:Examines legislation to avert the Medicare reduction in payments to physicians, which will otherwise occur by law beginning on July 1, 2008. Summarizes provisions of S. 3101, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008; and S. 3118, the Preserving Access to Medicare Act of 2008, both to freeze physicians fees at the current level until Jan. 2009, after which fees would increase by 1.1%, and then revert fees back to current law levels in 2010.
