Based on survey conducted in spring and summer 1972. Defines science policy, survey method, types and range of programs surveyed (p. 1-6). Presents summaries, arranged by State and university, of relevant university formal programs, courses offered, level of study, and research areas, including programs in Canada (p. 9-109). Appendix (p. 110) contains table on programs funded by NSF University Science Planning and Policy Program grants.
