Description
Summary:Analyzes the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977 and its implementation and expansion. Discusses the cost burden of compliance with the CRA. Concludes with an appendix modeling competitive and industry factors affecting how lenders' supplies of loans may interact with community-type lending demand. The CRA measures how well banking institutions affirmatively meet the housing finance needs of low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. It has also come to encompass investments in, and services to, populations believed to be in some financial need generally.
