This study, prepared by Leo A. Orleans for the Subcom on Science, Research, and Technology, updates a 1980 report (see 1980 CIS Annual H702-31) on science and engineering manpower and training in the PRC. Examines the state of higher education in the PRC following the cultural revolution, the supply and quality of scientific and engineering manpower, and planning for manpower utilization.
Appendices (p. 65-71) include tables on PRC higher education institutions and their distribution, and student enrollment data.
