Pretending that the car he drives belongs to him, he invites her on a day trip to the lakes only to be forced to abandon her without an explanation when he unexpectedly encounters his employer. They meet again when Mariuccia accepts the invitation of a ride from his new boss solely because she recognizes that Bruno is the chauffeur. However, when the man makes unwanted advances on Mariuccia, Bruno resigns and abandons car, employer and passenger in the middle of traffic. He subsequently tracks Mariuccia to the Milan Fair where she uses her influence with the owner to help him find new employment.
