| Item Description: | "The international symposium, 'New Trends in Radio Astronomy in the ALMA Era: The 30th Anniversary of Nobeyama Radio Observatory' was held in Hakone, Japan, on December 3 to 8, 2012. A total of 169 participants from 16 countries attended the symposium. As the title suggests, the symposium was held in the year of the 30th Anniversary of Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO). The main purpose of this symposium, however, was not to look back into the past achievements, but to discuss the new and future trends expected for radio astronomy on the basis of the initial outcomes of ALMA. Many exciting results from ALMA Cycle 0 observations were presented as intended along with those obtained with other instruments. Although ALMA is still in its growing phase, we were amazed by the power of ALMA. The presentations covered wide range of fields; cosmology, galaxies, star formation, protoplanetary disks, astrochemistry, solar system, and evolved stars."--Preface (p. xv). Electronic resource. |
