Collison: "Dr. Samuel Ross Miller carried this Bible during the War Between the States (as the rebels called it); it was presented to him by the Chaplain of the 150th Regiment (infantry) of Indiana Volunteers in the summer of '65. It would appear that 'S.R. Miller Esq.' was living at Mace (Montgomery County) Indiana on July 22 1868 and that, as he observed, it was a 'warm dry day.'" |
