Description
Summary:Provides brief overview of information security issues at VA and recent attempts by Congress to reorganize management of information security and technology at the Department. Analyzes H.R. 5835, the Veterans Identity and Credit Security Act of 2006, to establish an Office of the Under Secretary for Information Services within the VA and to require the VA to provide free credit protection services to those affected by security breaches, in light of the recent theft of VA computer material that contained the names and social security numbers of 26.5 million veterans.
