Summary:Examines proposals to provide Federal tax benefits for elementary and secondary school education expenses. Discusses elementary and secondary education reform efforts, reviews existing Federal tax provisions that could help families pay the cost of their children's elementary and secondary school education, including scholarships and tuition reduction, charitable contributions, and education savings accounts; and analyzes proposals that would expand existing or authorize new Federal tax subsidies for families with elementary and secondary education expenses. Examines implications of proposed education tax subsidies for the concept of school choice.
