Floods in Kansas. Letter from the Secretary of War, transmitting, with a letter from the Chief of Engineers, report on preliminary examination of floods in the State of Kansas: investigation of the flood periods of the Kansas River and its tributaries, the Cottonwood and Neosho Rivers in the State of Kansas, by an examination of the territory and from data already gathered by governmental, state, private efforts, and by the Board of Engineers of the War Department, and to devise some general plan which will best guard against the recurrence of floods and diminish their damaging effects upon the lower valleys of the Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and the Mississippi Rivers.
