| Item Description: | "The accounts which are analyzed in this book, from John Evelyn's diary and from Celia Fiennes' travel journal, are the only known first descriptions of papermaking in England in the sixteen hundreds"--P. [5]. "The biographies and footnotes to the texts were written by Peter Thomas. The illustrations were cut by Donna Thomas. The brown paper sample was made by Ray Tomasso. The white paper sample was taken from an incomplete copy of Keble's Reports, printed in England in 1685. The book was letterpress printed on paper made by the author. There are two hundred copies"--Colophon. The Cushing Library/Laughlin Collection copies are numbered 89 and housed in a slipcase, and AP (artist proof) and signed, housed in a box.
