Abstract:	This paper examines the relationship between writing assignments and the main educational goals of the undergraduate class in agricultural ethics. A few of the general philosophical questions concerning agriculture are described, and the importance of these questions is discussed. Writing helps the thought process on difficult philosophical points. Several specific types of writing assignments can be used to stimulate and clarify thought in the undergraduate course. Examples of writing assignments are included.
