A dialogue between Peicovich and Valente during Valente's last visit to Buenos Aires in 1992 is played. The dialogue took place at a hotel in the city. Valente was born by the banks of the River Mino. He talks about the important function of poetry in contemporary society. He explains where he believes poetry will go from here. Valente also explains what poems in themselves allow transmittance of in regards to Vanguards in the 1920s. He talks about the information age and points out things that need to be fixed. He also tells of a poet's creative drive and talks about Machiavelli in this regard. Valente talks about the fundamental aspect of poetry in religion and explains the market place domination that pushes best sellers. He briefly reflects on a childhood memory as well. Valente passed away in Madrid last Tuesday at 70 years of age. |
