Description
Summary:The main focus of Water-energy interactions in water reuse is to provide state of the art information and identify the major gaps and opportunities for the improvement of energy efficiency of urban water cycle, with a specific focus on wastewater treatment and reuse. The manifold interactions between water and energy are analysed, including the valorization of the different forms of energy in wastewater, nutrient recovery, life-cycle costs, environmental aspects, innovative technologies and new management strategies and infrastructure concepts. The overriding objective of Water-energy interactions of water reuse is to generate awareness of the questions raised and to gather ideas for future-oriented solutions, as well also to initiate interdisciplinary discussions. Energy is needed for water cycle management, water is needed for energy production and water reuse can save both of it.
