| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich interviews historian, sociologist, writer Fernanda Gil Lozano, who co-authored La historia de la mujeres en la Argentina with Valeria Silvina Pita and Maria Gabriela Ini, a book that tracks the historical development of women in Argentina over the last two centuries in volumes 1 & 2. Gil Lozano is researcher for the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Gender Studies in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. Gil Lozano explains how women and Argentina's history have been biasedly depicted and understood in the past, and how she and her co-authors strived to depict women. She explains how stories are told on a hierarchical understanding of the body and its organs, particularly discussing childbirth. She also explains why the few women in history are known and Peicovich shares his opinion on the possible inaccurate depiction of men throughout history. Gil Lozano explains how the history of women is thought of in terms of genre. She discusses gender role designation and homophobia in Argentina. She and Peicovich discuss the contribution women's biological and social role has had on the role of men. Gil Lozano reads the Index for Volume 2 of the book. As a researcher, Gil Lozano has contributed to a batch of reflections entitled Monstruos y monstruosidades, which she explains the content of. |
