Description
Summary:Esteban Peicovich plays an interview from the radio program Ciudad Abierta from Tuesday, July 8th 1997. In this program Peicovich interviews anthropologist María Susana Azzi. Azzi has studied tango and has recently published a book of her own, La antropologia del tango. She explains the question she pursued during her studies that led to the creation of this work. On the current programming, Peicovich is interviewing Azzi once again. Azzi has published her fourth book about tango entitled El gran tango: la vida y musica de Astor Piazzola. She explains how her interest in tango stemmed from her anthropological interests in Argentina. She also explains the cultural influence tango has had through Argentine immigration and Peronism. Azzi gives an interpretation of what cellist Yo Yo Ma says in the book's prologue. She explains how this work came to be, what it consists of, and of her research. She also touches on other aspects of the life of Piazzola. Peicovich reads a review by cultural journalist Jorge Gotlin, who works for Clarin. Azzi also explains the work she has done in her four books about tango.
