| Abstract: | This report highlights the author's major activities and accomplishments during his 15 months internship at the International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation in Austin, Texas. The internship objectives were set so as to provide him with an experience commensurate with the requirements of the Doctor of Engineering Program at Texas A&M University. During his internship, the author was involved with a variety of technical and non-technical projects. His assignments included: 1) The design of an automation strategy for one manufacturing center. 2) The overall supervision and coordination of a major automation project. 3) The development of a project scheduling/tracking system. 4) Co-authoring an "Equipment Specifications Guidelines" form. 5) Other assignments as needed. The nature and scope of the above assignments provided the author with a broadly based experience in the Manufacturing Engineering field. Additionally, the leadership role he played in some of the assignments afforded him with first hand exposure to many aspects of management and leadership skills. All in all, the author believes that this internship proved to be an enriching experience and a valuable addition to his overall education. |
