| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich interviews Susana Solari and Elena Cabrejas. Cabrejas was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Solari was born in Lavalle, San Martin, Argentina. Cabrejas has published work in several anthologies and collaborated with newspapers throughout the country. Solari studied Educational Science and received her certification in Adult Education in Chile. In Spain she became certificated in craftsmanship and folk art. She now works in children and adult education. Peicovich presents the commonality in Solari's and Cabreja's work about nuns. Cabrejas talks about the nun which her work Algo habran hecho is based on. This book is an investigation and tribute to the twelve martyrs of Santa Cruz. She gives information about the nun's religious life and of the events leading up to her kidnapping. She also explains her intent in writing this book. Cabrejas reads the poem which initiates Algo habran hecho. This poem was written by Cabrejas in dedication to her protagonist, Alice Dumon. Solari has published her first work, Cartas de una monja de clausura del siglo 18, which won the First Novel Award 1996 from the Argentine Center of Function and Development of New Authors. This is a fictional novel based on the real-life letters of a nun. She explains the importance writing this novel signified for her and talks about the central theme of the book. Solari talks about women then and now and describes what her protagonist is like. She also reads the letters which her work is based on. |
