| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich interviews carpenter, storyteller, magician's apprentice, and children's author Gustavo Roldán. Roldán was born in El Chaco, Argentina in 1935. He lived and studied in Cordoba, Spain, where he taught in the department of Philosophy and Literature. He talks about the magnificence of magic and he compares magic and literature in terms of the willing suspension of disbelief they both require. Roldán talks about why he chose to be a children's books author, which stems back to his own childhood. He explains the circumstantial factors that make a children's story a children's story, his interest in animals, and his particular interest in elephants. Roldán reads one of his own stories. Books he has published and are not further discussed include, El monte era una fiesta, El ultimo dragon, La noche de elefante, El mono y el yacare, and Zorro y medio. |
