Summary:Esteban Peicovich interviews Basilia Papastamatíu. Papastamatíu was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been living in Havana, Cuba since 1969 where she works for the publishing house Letras Cubanas. She explains why she moved to Havana and settled there. She also explains how she felt as a Spanish-speaker in France and talks about the use of the Spanish language in various Spanish-speaking countries. Papastamatíu talks about Cuban radio and she differentiates between literature, narrative, and poetry in Cuban. She talks about culture and poetry in other South American countries. Peicovich reads from Papastamatíu's Alli donde. He and Papastamatíu talk about Greek poet Juan Andralis and musician Silvio Rodriguez. Papastamatíu reads some of her own work and Peicovich reads a critique. Papastamatíu explains why she writes and what it does for her. Works she has published include El pensamiento comun (1966), Que en suenos los envuelven (1984), Paisaje habitual (1988), and Donde estabamos entonces.
