| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich reads a story from Un piano en bahia desolacion, by recently deceased Argentine writer Libertad Demitropulos. Peicovich reads three poems by Susan Griffin, one of Demitropulos's most beloved poets. Peicovich interviews Carlos Altamirano. Altamirano was born in Corrientes, Argentina. He is professor of philosophy and literature at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Quilmes and a researcher for CONICET. He is also founder and editorial member of the 20-year-old cultural magazine, Punto de Vista. Peicovich and Altamirano briefly discuss Nelson Mandela's imprisonment. Altamirano introduces the start of his writing career, when he left Corrientes in 1977. He talks about the affection he has for the city of Buenos Aires, which has been most hospitable to him. Altamirano talks about his education and of the literature which first interested him. He goes on to talk about how Punto de Vista had its start during such oppressing times. Altamirano authored several books including, Conceptos de sociologia literaria (1980), Literatura y Sociedad (1983), both which were co-authored by Beatriz Sarlo, also Ensayos Argentinos: De Sarmiento a la Vanguardia (1997), and his latest work Fondizi. |
