Description
Summary:Esteban Peicovich interviews the editor at the publishing company Tierra Firme, Jose Luis Mangieri. Mangieri was born in Parque Patricios, Buenos Aires, Argentina. When he was ten years old, he moved to the city of Floresta, where he currently lives with his wife. Mangieri talks about poetry as a form of resistance and of great young poets. He briefly talks about his upbringing, and about what led him to meet the great poets of the 50's and 60's. Peicovich and Mangieri share anecdotes about poet Raul Tunon. The first poetry book Mangieri ever read was Tunon's El violin del diablo. They discuss other poets including Portogalo and Javier Villafane, and of how they would do so adjusting to the Buenos Aires of the 90's. Mangieri talks about how he came to become a publishing editor. Although he has edited and published hundreds of books, he has only published one book of his own, Viente poemas y un titere (1960). He has been working on his second book, El poema del amor y la guerra. Peicovich reads The five conditions of the solitary bird by San Juan de la Cruz, and then quotes Woody Allen. He also reads the dedication of Diana Bellesi's new book, Sur.
