Summary:A recording of Juan Carlos Onetti reciting his own work is played. Esteban Peicovich gives an anecdote about an experience he shared with Onetti. Peicovich interviews Guillermo Saavedra. Saavedra talks about books as a part of everyday life. He discusses with Peicovich the decline in their use among the youth in a country that is so rich and full of great literature. Saavedra talks about the importance of a director's job, when overlooking any medium of language and literature, in order to more efficiently influence others outside of the authors' realm. He talks about the importance of adjusting the use of language to better fit the circumstances. Peicovich describes the content of Saavedra's book, La curiosidad impertinente. Saavedra talks about the risks publishers must take in order to launch interest in new writing styles. He and Peicovich continue to discuss the decreasing importance of literature in their culture.
