Description
Summary:Esteban Peicovich reads a poem by Susan Griffin. Peicovich interviews Angelica Gentile, a high school teacher. She talks about the state of literature and storytelling in terms of both writers and readers. She also references Plato to talk about what written word and poetry allow transmission of. Gentile and Peicovich discuss differences caused by generation gaps, children's lack of orientation towards literature, and the damages that this disinterest has done to the relationship between these different generations. They also debate the methods that should be used to encourage children to read. Gentile talks about the importance of children to read and to be read to, and the particular impact literature had on her by her father having done so. The only book discussed is the The Odyssey, in terms of the message it transmits to Gentile's pupils.
