| Summary: | Peicovich interviews short story writer Ana María Shua, who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Shua earned her doctorate at the University of Buenos Aires. She has worked as a publicist, journalist and has been part of the movie production of her own novel, Soy paciente, which won an award from the Losada publishing house. Peicovich and Shua extensively talk about Soy paciente and its production as a movie. Shua talks about her particular interest in short stories, about how she has entitled several of her stories and the particular writing process she went through when writing her latest story, La muerte como efecto secundario. Some of Shua's work includes La suenera, La casa de geishas, and Los amores de Laurita, a story about sexual revolution and a young woman's struggle as she attempts to break free from the norms of a posterior generation. Shua wrote her first poetry book El sol y yo when she was 16 years old. Juan Luis Borges and Max Jacob are just some of the various artists she admires. |
