Summary:Esteban Peicovich interviews Alberto Julián Pérez, who was born in Rosario, in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina where he received his teaching certification in literature and lived until the age of 27. He worked as a translator in Chicago, Illinois and later received his doctorate at New York Univeristy. He has taught at a small college in New Hampshire and at Michigan State Univeristy, and is currently teaching at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Pérez discusses what he likes to teach most, including certain writers such as Ruben Dario, Pablo Neruda, Cesar Vallejo, and Carlos German Belli. He talks about his particular interest and admiration for the Argentine poet that is better known as Almafuerte. Pérez has recently published a compilation of essays on Latin American Literature entitled Modernismo, vanguardia, postmodernidad. Other works Pérez has published include the following: Poetica de la prosa de Jorge Luis Borges (1986), La poetica de Ruben Dario: Crisis post-romantica y los modelos literarios modernistas (1992), and La mafia en Nueva York (1982), none of which are discussed. Throughout Peicovich and Pérez exchange the quotes of several writers including Allen Ginsberg, Sigmund Freud, and Juan Luis Borges.
