Description
Summary:Peicovich interviews Guillermo Saccomanno, who was born in 1948, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Saccomanno has worked as a creative publicist and conducts short story writing workshops. Peicovich and Saccomanno discuss North American poetry and mention several writers including William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, and Jean Thompson. They discuss the use of violence and of the tragic hero in North American literature. Saccomanno explains why people write as a form of expression, why they choose poetry or novels, and the use of language in both. He talks about some of his early childhood influences, and of some of the writers that influenced his generation, such as Carlos Trillo. Peicovich and Saccomanno touch on the role that literature once had and how it has been replaced by journalism. Saccomanno has published several books, including Situacion de peligro (1986), Bajo bandera (1991), and Animales domesticos (1994).
