| Item Description: | Caption title. Report of a photography demonstration at the Engineer School of Application, Willet's Point, N.Y. on June 6, 1881. The exploding of a mule was photographed to illustrate the sensitivity of photo-gelatin plates. Engravings show "Before the explosion" and "After the explosion." The photo-gelatin plate is also after the explosion. Detached from: Scientific American, September 24, 1881. Purchased for the Cushing Library/Kelsey Americana collection by The Cushing Library. The Cushing Library/Kelsey Americana copy contains an additional article Photographs of moving animals possibly from the Alameda Time-Star attributed to the San Francisco Post, circa 1880's. It discussed the zoopraxiscope which was used to take the photographs. |
