| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich interviews the Argentine philosopher, Jorge Eduardo Fernández, in Buenos Aires about post-modernity. Fernández explains what post-modernity is, its origins, its representative philosophers and thinkers like Descartes and Hegel, and the evolution of this philosophical movement. Fernández talks about Friedrich Nietzsche's nihilism, his famous sentence 'God is dead' and the interpretations of his thoughts by Gilles Deleuze. To explain the difference between post-modernism and post-modernity, Fernández cites a book by Andreas Huyssen called Guia del post modernismo. Fernández talks about the technological advances, pop art and their relationship in modern times, the return to neo-christianity or medieval mysticism (Tolkien's 'Lord of the rings', Umberto Eco's 'Name of the rose') as a way to resist/reject technological advances, among other topics related to the evolution of philosophical movements. |
