| Summary: | Esteban Peicovich talks to Nicolas Shumway, who is the author of a book titled, The invention of Argentina, published in 1991. Shumway studied at the University of Texas in Austin and has published many articles in Spanish and English. He earned his PhD from California and received a scholarship to travel to Argentina where he met Borges, a famous Argentine writer. Shumway says that anyone who is from Latin America should never forget his/her cultural roots. Peicovich and Shumway talk about New York City and how it has been the most important cultural city of the United States and they compare the contrast between Argentina with the United States. To conclude the interview, Shumway reads parts of his book as it becomes related to the conversation. |
