| Summary: | On a Sunday afternoon, Esteban Peicovich interviews Manuela Fingueret in Buenos Aires, about her position as Director of the General Directorate of Books, the city of Buenos Aires' libraries and her writings. Fingueret talks about the improvements, the different buildings and annexes, and the cataloging and acquisition of books in the libraries under her leadership. A book on cultural repression during the 1970s in Argentina, called Un golpe a los libros, was one of the libraries' projects. The interview then focuses on Figueret's beginnings as a writer and the authors who influenced her early years (Tolstoi, Dostoievsky, Corin Tellado, Gabriela Mistral), her published books. She talks about her book Hija del silencio, and reads a brief fragment of the novel, as well as several of her poems. |
