| Item Description: | Small archive of 20 Autograph Letters Signed (one of which is actually a photo), to the bibliographer and bookseller Gilbert Fabes, on a variety of book-related subjects, including agreeing to do a reading [at Foyle's?] and asking for tickets; complimenting him on his book ("in which there is a deal of very good writing with some queer flavor at times of Defoe and at others of Isaac Walton!"); denying that he had written Her Privates We; sending back the proof of "Confessions"; asking for a book "on the technique of writing scenarios for the films"; sending a photo; ordering books; etc. Each 1 page, various formats, some on his printed letterhead. Dates on the letters fall between 1927 and 1936. Also contains a photograph of A. E. Coppard with a stamp of a publishing company on the back: "Please return to Jonathan Cape LTD." |
