Summary:Esteban Peicovich interviews Silvia Guerra, a Uruguayan poet, about the history of poetry in Uruguay, mentioning the most important poets in chronological order with comments on some of them (María Eugenia Vaz Ferreira, Delmira Agustini, Juana de Ibarbourou, Sara de Ibáñez, Néstor de Cáceres, Clara Silva, Concepción Silva Bélinzon, and Idea Vilariño). The role of intransigency and male chauvinism were important factors for the start of female poets in Uruguay. Important male Uruguayan poets are Julio Herrera y Reissig, Carlos Sabat Ercasty and Mario Benedetti. Silvia Guerra talks about herself, and her published books and reads some of her poems.
