Item Description:	The authenticity of Clement's letters has been questioned, the authorship being attributed to L.A. de Caraccioli, considered responsible for their publication; it is thought to be chiefly a genuine collection, though with some of the letters spurious, by Alfred von Reumont in his "Ganganelli ... seine Briefe und seine Zeit" (see the Catholic Encyclopedia). At end of volume 2: Fin du second & dernier volume. "Oraison funèbre" by Simon Mattzell (pages 341-375, volume 2) translated from German by Jean-François de Fontallard. "Lettre du père François, cuisinier du pape Ganganelli" (pages 379-399, volume 2) attributed to Caraccioli (see Quérard). Title vignettes; head- and tail-pieces.
