| Item Description: | The Cushing Library/Dawson French copy is lacking the 27 leaves of plates. By Voltaire. Cf. Barbier, A.A. Ouvrages anonymes, III, col. 1108. "Préface de Don Apuleius Risorius, bénédictin [i.e. Voltaire]": p. [V]-XVI. The first authorized edition was published in Geneva by the Cramers with title, edition statement and date as above. Cf. Vercruysse, number 24. Apparently a reissue of a 1762 edition (BN, volume 214, col. 905, number 1907; Bengesco, number 489; Vercruysse, number 25) with an additional gathering in prelims. (p. XVII-XXIV) containing contents and a concordance of variants; an additional section titled "Variantes au poëme de la Pucelle d'Orléans. 1766" (104 pages at end, with special title page and separate paging and signatures; for contents, cf. Vercruysse, page 121); and 27 etched plates (cf. Table des estampes, pages 103-104 at end), which were also issued separately. Signatures: pi² *⁶ 2*⁴ A-T⁸, ²A-F⁸ G⁴. $4 signed, arabic. Illustrations: 27 prints : etching ; full-page. Consist of frontispiece and 26 ill. to the poem, numbered in medium 1-27. Frontispiece includes etched title and legend: "Recueil des estampes de la Pucelle d'Orleans, qui pourront etre reliees dans toutes sortes d'editions. À Londres. Gravées d'aprés les idées de l'auteur par L. Rake [i.e. Drake]" and depiction of an open book titled "La Pucelle de Chapelain." Cf. Cohen-De Ricci, col. 1030; Sander, M.
